If someone is bored (hobbies and ways to diversify time & interests; fun and relaxation and maybe growth)

• Maybe there is no good reason to be bored. Choose (or direct someone, depending) from some of these. There is *much* here. Do it for 2 hours, then switch?
• We all have a long way to go, to become like our Father in Heaven with complete joy! Learn about the life of Christ, and about God, and to become like Him!
• The most important thing is to find out what God is and wants, and do it. This is an attempt at a framework for doing our own study and effort in that process.
• Everyone needs a direction in life. Centering on pleasure, possessions, power, or attention, harms us, others & the earth, & cannot bring lasting happiness.
• One can study the gospel -- there is such greatness there. It is real, and the blessings are great.
• Work on YM/YW achievement/programs! (Or primary, depending on age.)
• Call or visit the person in your family that you have not talked to, the longest, and ask how/what they are doing, tell them how/what you are doing lately.
• ?Join a sports team, go to games as a fan (like, at local schools?), take up hiking, jogging, walking.
• Throw a ball or frisbee with others. Eat, dance & play music together (learn to jam! ). Learn or invent a sport or game (lots of ideas out there).
• Visualize what you want your life to be like now and at some future time, and what steps can get there.
• Work on the Maturity Models (balanced, fulfilling life & growth) including the kinds of thinking etc, and if that fails, send me an email about it.
• Plant a garden. Weed/water it. Read about gardening. Mow the lawn. Do the dishes. Clean up and tidy things.
• Take friends young & old to a park, museum or working farm (like This is the Place State Park or Wheeler Farm, in Utah -- lots of others hopefully).
• Visit a big (ex., state) park or places that provide horse riding experiences.
• Oprah Winfrey became educated, in part because her guardian required her to read a book and write a report on it, weekly.
• Learn to count to 10 thousand, in different languages. How do they say their alphabet?
• Find ways to serve others: it brings joy, learning, and growth!
• Fun or relaxation
• There are things I like to think about or review, in quiet time...
• music can include various things, not just learning an instrument (music main)
• Review your patriarchal blessing.
• Learn that you can do hard things. Often, we have to break something into steps (including learning), smaller steps, etc. Even write them.
• Keep a journal. Write about daily events, hopes, dreams, failures and successes, thoughts about the gospel, questions etc.
• Learn skills and more mature understanding: there are so many skills in life that are useful or just fun!
• Read great books: classics, stuff collected by that (was secretary of Education? name...?, noted under gpa notes?), biographies of Washington, Lincoln
• Learn to learn: use books, videos, friends, and then teach them what you learned (cements it) and practice sometimes, whether alone or together.
• Write a letter to the editor.
• learn toki pona or Esperanto? (There are online tutorials)
• Choose a country and age/timeframe, and go learn how they lived, what were key issues then, and report on it.
• What are the natural taxonomies?
• Learn about computers
• Get a job or start a business. (many notes on that upon request, and see ldsjobs.org)
• Buy a unicycle and learn to ride it (can be really fun, just...going). Maybe even do a few tricks.
• Learn to dance: ballroom or others.
• Play various kinds of games: card games (skipbo, five crowns, *many* games w/ rook cards...), or outside (croquet...), or many others! see wikipedia for ideas!
• Exercise, learn a sport, do burpees, learn a peanut roll and then eventually, to backflip (safely! -- i havent done this.)?
• Learn first aid. etc etc.
• I read of a widow or older person who said they were bored, and someone in exasperation finally said...
• Imagine you were given an assignment to give a report or talk on a subject. Prepare it. Memorize it.
