Read bios of presidents of the Church, etc.
There is a free biography of Abraham Lincoln, at gutenberg.org. Some parts get slow esp at the beginning chapters, but he teaches great things about our govt.
There are other classics for free there.
Oprah Winfrey became educated, in part because her guardian required her to read a book and write a report on it, weekly.
