Something good about Abraham Lincoln was...

• ...was that besides knowing how to work well with people, he understood the *principles* behind the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.
• He wanted to support those principles because they were *right*, even when they limited his power as president.
• Good references include the ~ recent Lincoln book (related to a movie), and a Lincoln biography on archive.org that contains some of his (excellent) speeches.
• And of course, he was known for honesty.
• We can also admire many of the principles espoused by the Founding Fathers of the USA. (%%todo: provide links/refs all thru here?)
• Liberty really is important. We might want to solve problems and improve things for others, but...
• Politics and issues (honesty and the constitution are the most essential! And thoughts on things like climate change, and medicare)
