other quick thoughts not yet edited in well, but:

• I heard that Israel drafts women, and that the USA could be quickly overwhelmed in manpower by China, for example.
• I don't immediately recall any other example of a righteous nation that has drafted their women to battle (avoiding the debate over who is righteous now...).
• Whether the USA or some other is a righteous nation now is not the important thing -- we all should try!
• Also, in the Doctrine and Covenants 98 we read some laws on war. There are many scriptures about God fighting the battles of the righteous.
• Of course I do not suggest abandong civil defense, at all. The scriptures also have examples of how righteous people defended their families.
• The scriptures say much about God protecting Zion in the last days before Christ's coming, and the Saints being armed with righteousness & the power of God &c.
